Preparing our students today, for the future of tomorrow

Preparing our students today, for the future of tomorrow

High School

The Taoyuan American School high school department offers an American-based curriculum aligned with the common core content standards established by the California State Board of Education for grade 9-12 students with foreign passports.

Our high school teachers are committed to preparing our students for an ever changing world. Our curriculum is designed to create an environment where students develop academically, socially, physically, intellectually, emotionally and culturally. We encourage all of our students to be actively engaged through hands-on activities, experiments, real-world application and peer interaction. In doing so, we aim to help students become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.

Students receive instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social studies, Spanish, Visual and Performing Arts, Computer Science, Digital Publications, and Physical Education. We strive to empower our students to reach their highest level of success by developing literacy throughout all of these subject areas. Literacy empowers students to develop their curiosity, and acts as a foundation to learning in all areas. As such, we also offer guidance and assistance for students with ESL backgrounds and help integrate them in the school and map out their path for success.

Taoyuan American School offers a wide array of club programs and academic classes, paramount of which are the AP classes. Taoyuan American School offers a number of distinctive AP classes, including World History, Calculus, Studio Art, Physics, Chinese, and Computer Science. In addition, Taoyuan American School also participates in Model UN and has competed in a number of conferences locally and abroad, and continue to attend conferences each year.

In order to cultivate responsible standards and prepare students for university, Taoyuan American School is committed to doing everything it can to prepare students students for college acceptance and transition, and tailors its programs to fit each student’s needs, talents, and desires. To attain that goal, Taoyuan American School employs a full-time college counselor, hosts mock ACT and SAT tests, and teaches ACT, SAT, and TOEFL strategies and preparation. The college counselor regularly meets with students, provides them with an array of potential colleges that fit their desired areas of study, and assists them in the college application process.

The high school teachers are committed to ensure that the students grow, achieve, and progress in order to ensure a smooth transition to university and their future careers.
