Founders

Born in 1950 in Keelung, Mr. ChungYi Chen was the youngest son in the family. After graduating from National Taiwan Ocean University in electrical engineering, he opted to return home and assist in managing the goldsmith shop. In 1977 He married Ms. YuHuai Chen, born in 1954 and also raised in Keelung, and built his own family. Eventually they grew independent from the family business and established Carato Fine Jewellery Company; the name was derived from ChungYi's Rotary Club identity that accents the weight unit for gemstones: carat. With help of long time staffers, most notably Charlene Chen, Yvonne Liu, ChiuHsian Hsu, Daby Wang, and HuiMiao Lan, Carato FJC flourished during the prosperous economic boom in Taiwan.
